Created by students for students, our conference mission is to bring together folks from universities across Western Canada who are invested in interdisciplinary work. Our Fall 2023 Conference theme, An Interdisciplinarian’s Toolbox: Emerging Practices and Methodologies for Crossing Disciplinary Boundaries, focuses on the ways in which we engage in interdisciplinary research, further reflecting on how these processes may give rise to new ideas, knowledge, and change.
Join us for a day of inspiration and connection on Thursday, May 2 & Friday, May 3.
Research presentations at all stages will showcase current UBC Okanagan graduate student work. Engage in networking through informal magnet sessions following the presentations.
Inviting student presentations centred on thesis research work at any stage or an academic topic that can be explored through an interdisciplinary lens. Creativity aligned with the topic or discipline(s) can inform the presentation style. Presenters will address the audience for five minutes, followed by informal engagement during magnet dialogue sessions.
The panel discussion will bring together different perspectives on a common theme or topic which will be derived from the proposals we receive. Panel presenters, when confirmed, will be provided with pre-set questions to speak to and will also respond to an audience Q & A session.
Exploring the human side of our work through facilitated group sessions designed for collaborative dialogue and relationship building.
Scheduled to kick-off Day 2, our fireside talks will invite conference presenters and attendees into casual, guided, and meaningful conversations about the processes and purposes of interdisciplinary work. Topics will grow from the conference theme and will set a collective tone for the day.
